On November 27, 2013, Dubai celebrated winning the bid to host the 2020 World Expo. Since then, Expo City Dubai has hosted notable events, including COP28 in 2023. Now, with new plans approved by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Expo City Dubai is set to play a crucial role in the emirate’s growth. These plans align with the 2040 Urban Master Plan and Dubai Economic Agenda D33, aiming to double the city’s economy by 2033.
The development will house over 35,000 residents and 40,000 professionals, making it a global hub for businesses, investors, and visitors. It will feature the new global HQ for DP World and a massive 10 billion dirham expansion for the Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC), solidifying Dubai’s position as an international business hub.

The plan includes five new districts, designed with a smart transportation system and green spaces. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum highlighted Dubai’s commitment to innovation and leadership in building a prosperous, sustainable future. Her Excellency Reem Al Hashimy sees this transformation as a milestone, turning Expo City into a vibrant center for the city and the world.
